Whistleblowing

The BHA’s whistleblowing policy outlines the procedure by which any individual involved at any level of the sport of horseracing, including employees of the BHA, can report or blow the whistle on concerns relating to the running of the ÐÔÊӽ紫ýor the actions or activities of its employees, officials, directors or members of ÐÔÊӽ紫ýcommittees or industry committees administered by the BHA. It is designed to work in conjunction with other policies to protect anyone involved in British racing, whether as a participant or otherwise, from potential wrongdoing.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of young people and adults at risk and protect them from harm.

As the regulatory and governing body of the sport, the ÐÔÊӽ紫ýhas a particular duty to protect children, young people and adults at risk involved in racing activities from all forms of abuse and harm, and to ensure there are clear processes and channels for them to report confidently any abusive or discriminatory behaviour.

ÐÔÊӽ紫ýmodern slavery and human trafficking statement

The ÐÔÊӽ紫ýis committed to having policies and practices to combat modern slavery and human trafficking and to implementing robust systems to try to ensure that our supply chains are free from modern slavery and human trafficking.

More broadly, the ÐÔÊӽ紫ýbelieves that slavery and human trafficking have no place in horseracing. The ÐÔÊӽ紫ýencourages the prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery across all areas of the industry.

The ÐÔÊӽ紫ýoperates the RaceWISE reporting line, aimed at encouraging both members of the public and the racing industry to come forward with information about any wrongdoing in the sport of horseracing, details can be found at: /RaceWISE/ and reports can be made online or via 0800 085 2580.

Where any modern slavery concerns overlap with the welfare or harm or abuse of young people or adults at risk, reporting concerns to the BHA’s Lead Safeguarding Manager via [email protected] may be more appropriate.

Complaints Policy

The ÐÔÊӽ紫ýis committed to providing the highest standards of service to the sport.

Our teams can usually resolve most issues quickly and satisfactorily as part of their job. But there may be instances where further investigation is required. The complaints process helps ensure we can handle these matters fairly, efficiently, and consistently.
